Just under 30 pupils of Fundacion Servir from Ugarteche are heading to Los Puquios on Sunday 25th August for a fun day in the snow and to learn about water conservation. Taking advantage of the beautiful winter conditions, the Fundacion is taking a group of their pupils (adults, adolescents and children from Ugarteche) up towards the Chilean border for a full day of sledging, sight seeing and active on-site classes about water conservation.
For many of them it will be the first time they have been up to the Andes mountains and a first time sledging and tubing. Los Puquios is at the beginning of the Mendoza River, which is the water source for Ugarteche.
This activity has been generously supported by donations by Transporte el Angel (Oscar Gaitán y Victor Hugo Gonzales, [email protected]) who are providing free transport for the pupils and volunteers for the 400km round trip; and Los Puquios Parque de Nieve who are supplying equipment, slopes and instruction free of charge to the Fundacion for the event.
